I've always believed that the oil companies, in general, manipulate prices and markets.

I definitely agree that we  need to exploit LNG fuel to its fullest potential.  Show the oil market
that they're not the only game in town any more.

I was off back then on the HIGH of $2000 an acre, The oil companies paid most in  Youngstown and the county, $5000 to $6000 an acre.  It will go higher within 24 months as they begin to complete the drilling units.

I was right, that what was unknown then is now known all over the world in eastern Ohio,  the UTICA.

Jay, natural gas is at an all time low, the marcellus shale and other gas shales seem to be slowing down production because of the price of NG.  Oil meanwhile is going to continue skyrocketing because of the recent Wikileaks divulging the cover up by Saudi Arabia and our government that the oil reserves in Saudia Arabia are 40% lower than what was always revealed to the world.  Even our large local reserves of oil only dent the consumption of oil nationally, however if we convert automobiles to run on CNG(compressed natural gas) we will survive the largest oil hike ever seen before.

Rick, the big difference between oil and gas is the price of oil, it is going thru the roof.  I think we should ban the distribution of all fossil fuels to losers like Dennis and those living in Nirvana, they can ride a bike and heat their homes with cow dung.

"I love the smell of innovation in the morning!"  Or, we can store the oil, it is going up anyway.

Back to demolition and deconstruction, I do not like to see waste since my early projects were the largest recycling business, housemoving.  My interest moved all the houses on route 60 in PA and route 22 in Ohio.  Novotny, the defrocked deconstruction Czar is a quiter, now MVOC is gong to make him a real bonafide socialist, sad.  If he didn't quit, now he could have claimed the newly found funding for deconstruction, Mineral signing bonuses and royalties I told him to stop sucking up grant money from the MAN, its dried up.  Since oil revenue on every inch of ground is now on the table, Kasich will make our YTown politicians use this money for demolition and make our land productive.  I say we force the entitled to grow shrimp, Tilapia farming is planned for the IDORA neighborhood, good, make them productive for once.

Maybe they oil refinery could take the few working rail lines in the area and ship
their crude in tanker cars.... maybe??

Natural gas prices may drop some in this area since nat. gas markets are regional.  The well down the street from me can provide my nat. gas needs since its production is metered into the distribution line and my meter takes gas from that same line. Crude oil production will probably not result in much of an impact on world crude prices, but of course would increase the percentage of our usage produced domestically.  It all depends upon how much oil is down there. If its a major find then world prices may be affected for a while.   The way things appear to be going it is possible for many private landowners as well as public landowners to realize a tidy profit, money that is sorely needed in this area.

One difference between nat. gas and oil is that nat. gas can be used as it comes from the ground.  Crude oil must of course be transported to a refinery for conversion into fuels.  So proximity to refineries that can handle the additional prouction would figure into the price.  Its probably more cost effective to bring oil from the middle east to a Louisiana refinery than it would be to move it there from Ohio since in the former's case the infrastructure is already in place.

So with an abundant supply of oil and natural gas in our area we should see the price of both drop significantly in the near future.  Right?
???

A large energy company disclosed to my group in a recent meeting that it is not the Marcellus shale here in eastern Ohio, it is the Utica shale and it is not natural gas, it is oil that they hit, "a significant amount."

AllanY2525

Is it true that where there is natural gas, there is often a lay of oil close by?

How is the progress with the Marcellus shale natural gas deposits going?

Youngstownshrimp

Yes, it is Bingo for us all to blessed with OIL in our backyards, as we speak, the BOOM is just getting started.

I guess we can say Father Noga's and St. Dominics prayers are about to be answered.  An innovative idea has just been brought forth on a solution for funding all Youngstown's demolition.  I wish it was my idea but surprisingly it is an idea of one of our County's leaders.  The solution is very simple, since the commodity price on the table for Mahoning county is $2000 and acre for oil lease bonuses, all the parcels in the City can now generate the funding to demolish or deconstruct vacant structures "en masse."  This price does not even include the royalty payments once wells begin to produce the oil discovered in the Utica shale here.  Wow!, at the most it takes 10 city lots to create an acre, however all parcels own 50% of their frontage on the street so it most likely will take less lots to create an acre, also lots come in different sizes.  In addition, their are more vacant lots than demo houses, what an idea, innovation!
