I'm not sure about seating either.

I think it is incentive to buy their best seats.

I think it is wonderful that they are offering this to local non-proftis. They also promote the non profit on the jumbo tron and allow the non profit to set up a table at the entrance for promotion of their group.  I do know that it is up to the non profits to promote their own ticket sales.  Still not sure of all the details.. I will know soon.

I'm not sure what level of seating I was at. we were in section 216, so I would assume that was Gold level tickets (from what I see on the seating chart from the steelhounds site).

I'd like to comment on the Ticket prices.
The Steelhounds have offered local non-profits gold level tickets to sell at $13.
Was that your seating level?
The non profit additionally makes $2 on each ticket sale.

The opening game had "charity" tickets for sale. It benefited Redeemer Charities.

I don't know if you can call ahead and ask to see if a game is sponsored by a charity or not and then ask for a contact number.  You do need to buy the tickets using the flier.

I know of one other sponsored game for sure.

The Youngstown Symphony Chorus is sponsoring a game on February 28th and will be singing the National Anthem to boot!

So if you are going on the 28th - look for a flier to be posted here.
Ticket's are $13 and I don't know if they tack on that service fee.
Your tickets were probably $16 with a $2 service fee.

I will be posting as soon as I get the flier.

Wow!!

That is the only word I can think of to describe my experience. The facility, the game, everything exceeded my expectations.

Two friends and I went to the Golden Dawn for dinner before the game. The service was very slow, and we were 20 minutes late for the game, but that didn't at all put a damper on things. Parking was not an issue, we found a spot easily in the lot next to the Stambaugh building.

The facility was perfect. Not too huge like The Gund, but not too small or over-crowded. We had really good seats, around center rink and 7 rows back.

I can't say enough about the game itself. It was fast-paced, exciting and all around fun! At the end of the first period the Steelhounds dancers threw out t-shirts (and I go one!)  :D The Hounds won (of course) 4-3 with a winning goal in the last minute of the third period.

The only two complaints I have are about the Merchandise area and price of tickets. The "pro shop" (merchendise area) could have been a little bigger. The line of clothing was pretty good, and reasonably priced. There only seems to be one merch area, so maybe opening one or two more would help (and maybe they will at some point).

Tickets cost me $18 a piece. That isn't amazingly over-priced, but for me to go, say, twice a month, it would be too much. There are $8 tickets, but those are up in the upper levels. There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house (honestly) so, the $8 price may be the way to go. Also, YSU is working on a student discount price, so hopefully that will help.

Attendance was just over 5,200 and it was so great to see all those people walking around downtown afterwards. To sum everything up about my experiece; I can say for never having gone to a hockey game, and not being super excited about it I'll definatly go again!!!!
