On one hand that is GREAT NEWS. On the other hand, I bet they didn't compensate you for your time and travel. Is there any documentation of you receiving that $0.79? If not, technically they still owe you. Unfortunately, the cost of time in court to settle that would be over 1000 times more expensive (>$7900).

I wonder how much trouble the guy filling in for the manager and anyone in the pow wow ended up in.

I must have quite a few of those other hands because I also wonder a bunch of other things about a coin shortage. I guess paper money doesn't disappear but metal coins decompose very quickly. Maybe cars should be made of paper.

I went back to the store at the end of last week.
I brought my receipt.
I talked to the cashier.
She referred me to someone filling in for the manager.
This guy had to hold pow wow with someone else.
They weren't sure how to justify giving money out ot the cash register drawer.
Eventually I received my missing change.

Someone, most likely that local grocery store, stole $0.79 from you. THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!!

Seriously, even if it was $0.02 that's still theft.

I just did a little math and if everything on that receipt was taxable, your before tax total was $10.45 which makes the tax you paid $0.76

That $.079 is more than that damn tax.

A lawsuit has been filed in Pittsburgh against Chipotle for doing this.  Chipotle claims it is due to the coin shortage.

I went to a local grocery store yesterday.  I
I purchased a few food items.
The items were scanned at the checkout.
The cashier announded the total so I handed her a $20 bill.
I wasn't paying full attention at the time but when I got home I realized that I wasn't given any coins as change.
I checked my receipt and discovered that the math on the receipt was incorrect.

Example
Total bill $11.21
Cash paid $20.00
Change $8.00                                             The change should have been $8.79
