The Rioter Sons band from Mercer, PA added some punk and rock music to the evening portion of the Community Street Festival.

There were eight hours of stage entertainment.  These included 12 acts and a talent show.

The Pig Iron Literary and Art Works Community Street Festival on July 19 will feature a talent show from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

It’s open to contestants of any age. Two Best of Show prizes will be awarded. Preregistration is required and is limited to 25 contestants. To register, go to the Pig Iron Office at 26 N. Phelps St.; call (330) 747-6932; or mail a letter to Pig Iron, P.O. Box 237, Youngstown, Ohio 44501, attention: Talent Show. Include name, address, telephone, type of act, and age category: youth, adult or senior. The deadline is July 10, or until 25 contestants have applied and been accepted. There is no fee.

Judges for the talent show include Lark Dickstein of the Youngstown Foundation and Madonna Chism Pinkard of WFMJ Channel 21. They will rate contestants on age-appropriateness, poise, originality and technical skill. The prizes will be baskets with specialty gifts and certificates. Winners will be announced at the close of the talent event. Stage manager of the presentation will be Philip Warren, teacher at the former Wilson High School. Ray Beiersdorfer of the department of geology and environmental studies at Youngstown State University will be master of ceremonies.

The talent show will feature amateur and home-grown talent in any style, voice, dance or instrument. The festival will be outdoors on North Phelps Street, between Federal Street and Commerce.

The Festival will run from 10am -9pm
