It's actually been in the courts for several years now due to liens that were defaulted on by the owner. The creditors were trying to take the buiding to collect the money owed

Councilman John R. Swierz says that the same owner (who ran Jolly Joe's) still owns this place.

Anyone know anything about Jolly Joes on Sheridan Ave? The place is a mess! Broken windows, boarded up doors and windows, litter and glass everywhere, graffiti... It makes a person kinda frustrated when they work hard to keep up their yard, home, and neighborhood just to have this garbage dump right around the corner. Why doesn't the city use imminent domain and flatten the place, then they can build a brand new Station # 9 there for the YFD. I'd much rather have the friendly firefighters (even with their sirens etc.) than this detriment to the neighborhood.
