Coming to Youngstown in Time for Veterans Day
The Oath: The Michael Strank Story

After several days of bloody combat with the Japanese, six marines raised the American flag on Mount Suribachi on the Island of Iwo Jima.  Sgt. Michael Strank, a native of the Rusyn village of Jarabina, Slovakia, was the leader of this detail.  He died in combat a few days later when shrapnel from an artillery shell pierced his heart.

Strank embodies the idea of the Americans about a real soldier who sacrificed his life for the noblest causes with which many Americans identify: freedom and independence.
