Garden District neighborhood meeting Wed. April 9th at 6:30

When: Wednesday April 9th at 6:30pm
Where: Old fire station at the corner of Mahoning and Eleanor.

The S. Portland, S. Lakeview, and Olson block watch passed out flyers to the neighborhood this morning.  We would like to expand our coverage to include the entire Garden District neighborhood.

Currently, our plan is to elect the neighborhood representative from our current group on a temporary basis.  This person will hopefully be in place for the April 9th meeting.  Then, either at the April 9th meeting, or the following meeting, we will elect block captains from those who show up from the entire neighborhood.

Our focus will probably remain mostly on crime prevention.  But this group will also organize efforts to begin implementation of the Youngstown 2010 Garden District neighborhood master plan.

From the plan document:

A neighborhood group must be created to represent all areas of the Garden District neighborhood and a project manager must be identified to direct and be responsible for the overall
plan implementation. The City of Youngstown will assist that group to help them carry out the Garden District Neighborhood Plan.

Our councilwoman has already begun work securing grants and the like to begin some of these projects.
