I graduated from Rayen, class of '81.

It was always referred to as "THE" Rayen School.  From what I have read, and
from talking to folks at the final Alumni Reunion and Tour of the school a
while back - it was referred to as "The" Rayen School as a sign of its former
prestige and respectability as an institution of higher learning - its day.

My eyes were wet as I took the final tour of the building.  I used to LOVE
going to school there - everything from building stuff in Wood Shop, to
learning how to cook in Home Ec. with Mrs. Marr (now deceased), to
working in the chemistry lab during Mr. Pyle's "free period", setting up
laboratory equipment, etc for his next class(es).

I was involved in a production of "GodSpell" during my senior year, and
loved the old auditorium - I used to wonder what it must have looked
like back in 1925 when it was first built.

I took photos of the mural in the Auditorium Foyer before it was taken
down (to be restored and preserved) during the last tour night.

I grew up in Girard in the 70s-80s and have a question.

your subject title says "Rayen High School" which is how we referred to it. Later in your post you call it "The Rayen High School" and "the Rayen High School". Is the word "The" part of the name?

Does anyone know when demolition is to start on The Rayen High School? I would really like to take plenty of pictures when that school comes down.

Does anyone have any good stories about the Rayen School....again I was too young to really remember the Rayen school.
