Your first concern is where you live. Your investment is in your home. The schools your children attend is in your neighborhood unless they attend special needs schools. As mean spirited as it might seem, you owe absolutely nothing to folks on the other sides of town. They will do whatever they can to draw businesses away from your side of town to theirs, and this is understandable, that's life.
We here in the 7th Ward are blessed in that we can do shopping at stores that, while they are in Boardman are still right in our neighborhood, and unlike some of our West Side friends, we do not preach one sermon and do quite another thing, because I do not believe for a single second that they do 100% of all their shopping at stores within the city limits.
Those who live on the North Side are in the same boat as we here in the 7th.
And what of those who rent? You might not own your own home, but that does not stop you from having the same degree of pride in your neighborhood as if you did own your home.

What if someone lives in a particular political division and earns their living in another?

I always believed in was taught that you support the businesses in your own town that generates monies for families and friends and for the community. Youngstown residents better wake up and smell the coffee if they want trade come back in to Youngstown. Shop in Youngstown dine in Youngstown have fun in Youngstown

PEOPLE ON OTHER SIDES OF TOWN WANT YOU TO SPEND YOUR MONEY IN BUSINESSES ON THEIR SIDE OF TOWN TO THE HARM OF BUSINESSES ON YOUR SIDE OF THE CITY

EVERY BUSINESS EMPLOYS YOUR FAMILY AND NEIGHBOR PUTTING FOOD ON THEIR TABLES AND CLOTHS ON THEIR BACKS

YOU OWE NOTHING TO BUSINESSES OUTSIDE OF YOUR SIDE OF YOUNGSTOWN

BY INCREASING TRADE ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE

YOU ARE ENCOURAGING NEW BUSINESSES TO LOCATE THERE

STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!
