You read the list wrong. The list as posted by me earlier today stressed that the list is to be read from the safest to the most dangerous not the opposite way.

Why they did it this way I don't know.

Youngstown being 9th from the bottom makes it the 9th most dangerous city.

There are 3 links to my earlier post that explain it better than I can.

MOST DANGEROUS:

1. St Louis Mo.
2. Detroit Mich
3. Flint Mich.
4. Compton Calif
5. Camden NJ
6. Birmington Ala
7. Cleveland Oh
8. Oakland Calif
9. Youngstown, Oh.
10. Gary Ind.

The "good news" is that in the map at the following link it shows that we are improving

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/30/city.crime.ap/index.html

OOps!  sorry about that, folks.... I just copied and pasted the info exactly as printed in the article
I quoted from Aol News.... I assumed that the ascending numerical order meant that the city
listed as No. 1 was the most dangerous and that the city at the bottom of the list would have
been the least dangerous.

Mary,

The link to the actual article should be at:

http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/list-of-cities-from-safest-to-most/n20061030131109990008

If you dont have AOL "per se" try their web portal at www.aol.com and do a news
partial-search by entering  "Most Dangerous Cities" (use the quotation marks) in
the search box somewhere... it should come up.

Out of 371 cities that made the list, (No. 1 = most dangerous),
Youngstown was ranked the 363rd most dangerous city to
live in.  It barely made the list at all....

Once again, we all - collectively - try to get the outside world
to wake up and realize that Youngstown is not the way it
used to be - in some GOOD ways.

I was surprised to see Youngstown that far down on the most
dangerous list.....it's got to be a good thing any way you look at it.

Here is an excerpt from that article - just the actual list of cities and their ranking:

A news report today lists St. Louis as the most dangerous U.S. city.  I'm sure we will learn the ranking for Youngstown sometime today.
