Is cursive writing being taught in city schools,and if no, why not?

I agree with what the article says - without a knowledge of how to use
cursive writing, historical documents would be unreadable to future
generations.

If a disaster were to occur (failure of electronic comm systems, etc)
we would still have to resort to hardcopy and hand written communication.
