Its amazing how unintelligent the people who make our laws really are.

City crews were patching the potholes on my street today.  They did a reasonably good job.

When the city does a major project like they did recently with Fifth Ave
they could make that investment last SO much longer if they would just
apply sealer to it when the small cracks start to appear.

Water penetrating small cracks and freezing is what destroys the pavement
and keeping the water out would greatly extend its life.  It makes no sense
to just pave it, then forget it till its falling apart again.

In my neighborhood the county re-seals the streets every few fears and
they've not done total replacement even once in the 16 years I've had
my home except for the most major of thorofares.

In a city like Youngstown where they can only pave a few streets a year
because of the budget, it makes more sense to PROTECT that investment
BEFORE the pavement is crumbling again.

There was a lot of talk about cracked asphalt and potholes at city council today.

One councilman questioned if a certain type of asphalt that developed cracks in the winter would then melt back together when the weather became hot.

It might be time for Zims Crack Cream   ;D
