Farmers Market OPEN

The Farmer's Market at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown is open for business.

Friday was the first day for patients and the public to purchase fresh, locally grown produce.

It is also the first year for the fruits and vegetables prescription program. Doctors with Humility of Mary Health Partners will write prescriptions for qualified patients, and they will receive a $20 voucher to purchase items at the Farmers Market.

"We believe so much in the power of fruits and vegetables to make an impact on their health status," said Bridget Lackey, HMHP community health educator.

The Farmer's market is held every fourth Friday in Youngstown and every third Friday at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
