if i was a supporter of the pres, i would not be making excuses for him. rather, i would telling his advisory team 24/7 to coach him up until he steps onto the stage of the next debate through a q/a regiment. i will watch the vp debate that will be the true comic relief for this presidntial election.

During the debate Obama looked like he would rather have been home in the shelter of the White House than standing there on live TV debating Romney.

In my opinion debates merely enforce either a positive or negative perception regarding a candidate.
Let's look at their history:

1960: Nixon uses no make-up...looks sweaty...Kennedy looks cool and collective. Radio listeners thought Nixon won the debate, TV viewers thought Kennedy won and looked more presidential....Kennedy wins.

1976: President Ford stumbles on the foreign policy question regarding no soviet control in Poland. Ford comes off lacking foreign policy. Carter wins.

1980: Carter continues to look woeful during the debates...continues to tell Americans how bad it is...a follow-up to his "malaise" tv speech. Reagn looks upbeat, Carter even says he consults daughter Amy on foreign policy regarding the arms race. Our weak President asks his 10 year old daughter about nukes?Reagan wins.

1988: Dukakis shows no emotion or feelings when asked the question regarding what he would do if someone raped his wife. If he doesn't care about his wife, is he going to care about my family? Plus Willie Horton on weekend paroles didn't help. Bush wins.

1992: Bush seems bored during debate, even checking his watch to see how much longer he has to sit there. Clinton gets up and walks up to the audience and delivers his "I feel your pain" speech. Clinton gets it, he cares, Bush just wants to go home....Clinton wins....

Just my thoughts....that and 75 cents will get you a senior coffee at Mickey-Dee's....

Since I only watched the post debate review on CNN, I can't speak for the other networks, but even after all the fact checking on the part of CNN, even the most diehard liberal who would rather slice out his tongue with a dull knife than admit that Romney won the debate had to concede that Romney bested Obama.

My own spin on Presidential Debates:

Presidential debates are as old as the republic itself, but one thing we must all keep in mind is the fact that they are only a snapshot into the debaters thinking, and do not represent the realities of the real world once the President is elected. In a perfect world he would have everything go his way 100% of the time, but this is not a perfect world, and he must face problems that are beyond his control to prevent. He must work with a Congress that very well be made up of a majority of the opposition party whose goal it is to make him a one term President. Economic events could bite him in the behind. Wars, especially in the Middle East could drive fuel prices through the ceiling, or force our country to intervein such as what is happening between Turkey and Syria. There are a hundred and one events that will make or break a Presidency that politics has absolutely nothing to do with. Finally the new President, like Richard Nixon, could be his own worst enemy and bring his presidency crashing down around him.

i did not watch the debate either but i did read several posts from all sides and they did say mitt was in control but they also said both debaters fudged their anwers with alot of misnomers. i say it was a draw based on the pundits fact chching.

I watch HLN in the morning for about 45 minutes then catch maybe an hour of Fox and Friends. This morning I switched over to MSNBC to see what they were saying. They were making weak excuses for the President. "He doesn't like to debate." Give me a break........... Romney beat him with facts......

CNN said that Romney won that debate hands down over Obama. Even their most liberal commentators agreed. Wow what's the world coming to?

My phone ran last night at 10:30pm. A survey company was calling to get my opinion on who won the debate last night.

I said I did....I didn't watch it.

i wil be at the annual poiticians chilli cookoff tonight. i would rather have heartburn and indigestion from this event then have my bp go intio stroke mode while watching two liars reinvent themselves in frt of the american people. i agree with ibc when they allow all potential candidates to participate in the usa pres debates then i too will watch the debates until then let me ehjoy my indigestion and hrtbrn from the annual rotary political chilli cookoff.
