MahoningValleyCashMob,

Thanks for being a leader in the "Buy Local" movement.  Here is a link about a local currency program in Brixton, England.

Animal Welfare League's Menagerie Thrift & Gift Shoppe is the next business chosen for the Mahoning Valley Cash Mob.

The purpose of the Cash Mob is to encourage people to support local, small businesses en masse, which gives the business owner an economic stimulus, according to a news release from Geo Peterson, cash mob administrator who owns Off The Cuff & On The Button, A Fine Consignment Boutique located at 7301 West Blvd., Suite C-5, in Boardman.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 at the thrift store, 6037 E. Market St. in Howland. At approximately 2 p.m. cash mob members will convene at Up A Creek Tavern in Howland to celebrate the success of the cash mobbing. The tavern's owner, Mark Matash, will donate 10 percent of the day's net profits of any meal or refreshment purchased by all customers to Animal Welfare League.

Peterson said he will donate 10 percent of his net profit this month to Animal Welfare. Animal Welfare League has also decorated a "Giving Tree" in Off The Cuff & On The Button, A Fine Consignment Boutique with items they need for dogs and cats, which is an opportunity for customers to make a direct donation.

The Mahoning Valley Cash Mob is seeking new members. If interested, contact Geo Peterson at 330-726-1200 for details.
