What would a new truck cost?

Youngstown's fire Chief John O'Neill says the city will likely be short one of its trucks for much of the rest of the rest of the year after it was involved in a rollover crash earlier this month.

The department's rescue squad was involved in the crash on its way to an emergency.

O'Neill said the driver who caused the accident does have insurance but not enough to cover a $300,000 fire engine.

"We're gonna be obviously negotiating with the insurance company and trying to make a decision on whether or not we're gonna repair that truck or just put that money toward a new one," said O'Neill.

The crash left several firefighters with minor injuries, and the other driver was given a traffic citation.

In the meantime, the department is using a reserve truck to replace the rescue squad. O'Neill admits having to replace the wrecked engine could force the city to delay replacing other trucks in the city's fleet.
