Youngstown Family Evicted, Home Boarded Up

The city's zero tolerance policy on crime takes a new direction, as police and the city prosecutor have a South side Youngstown home declared a public nuisance.

Residents at 417 Kenmore, including two small children were in for a rude awakening when police evicted them, and immediately boarded up the house.

City Prosecutor Jay Macejko says the investigation led to eleven controlled drug buys, and three search warrants where police confiscated drugs, money and guns.

"This is absolutely an extension of the zero tolerance policy," says Prosecutor Macejko. "We are looking to use any tools at our disposal to help fight and reduce rime. And I just want to say anyone who thinks it will be business as usual after this initial 30-day period is going to have a big surprise."

19-year-old Terrell Maiden had a gun when police arrived, they tackled and arrested him. He's charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
