Youngstown City Council Meeting
Wednesday, September 19, 5:30 p.m.
- Location -
City Council Chambers
6th Floor
City Hall
26 S. Phelps Street
Downtown Youngstown
A woman in the audience was removed by several security officers.
After the meeting an audience member asked the security guard why she was removed, they were directed to ask YPD.
Not sure why she was removed she was not being disruptive ???
Mayor Samarone was quite angry with council today. It's too bad not one councilman replied to his scolding.
On another note about the council meeting tonight in ref. to the selling of our water rights.
1, The Mayor clearly stated more then once that he asked council what they thought about the drilling at Meander and he (the Mayor) said all council agreed that he should go ahead with it,. THAT FOLKS WAS A MONTH AGO--So did any councilmember's hold a public forum for there area and ask what the residents thought about all this???????--Mine did not The Mayor even said if 4-or more did not agree with him he would have taken it off the table. However, they did not.
2. Bob Hagan was able to speak and then took a response back from Annie Gilliam. She referred to how we have been selling Lumbar off for years (Trees). OK Are you serious with that...Trees--Granted as a board member of Treez Please I am not big with this practice-But last I checked Lumbar was not toxicifying (new word)my community. I could be a tad wrong on that but I doubt....
3. Thank you City Council for letting Bob Hagan speak.
To the council members we as citizen's voted you into office to be our voice, So take my voice into consideration ---You don't know how we all feel--Hold meetings, get the opinions of others--put it to a vote---That is Democracy and that is how it's supposed to be--We the People-Not as One but the Voice of Everyone...
An to the Mayor--Thank you for addressing everyone tonight in regards to getting involved and showing up at meetings. Guilty that was only my 3rd council meeting ever attended. Your right people have to get involved. It is up to the citizens to be Pro-Active and attend these meetings.
this council will vote to sell our mineral rights by next council meeting. council by putting the mr for second reading is another stall tatic to appease the ytown residents. ytown residents be aware council can call an emergency council meeting by friday nite to pass this resolution. 7th wc is in favor of fracking he has said so at several previous bws in the past. this is a message for ytown elected officials, WE VOTED YOU IN WE CAN VOTE YOU OUT!
The woman taken out by security was part of the anti-fracking group.
The Mayor has been unfortunate to be in command when the money has run out on the City. Aside from riding heard on the City employees, selling off the Covelli center, he knows it is not enough to keep the City solvent. He is smart to see that the entire eastern Ohio is leasing off the mineral rights below the counties and he will lead his government to tap into the massive revenue stream to place Youngstown back on top of the industrial world. For thirty years he has watched the decline of Youngstown , spiralling into a third world City. The liberal democrat experiment in socialism did not bring Youngstown out of the dark ages. As with most of the democrats of the Valley, he is breaking ranks and returning to the Valley's roots of conservative democrats. These roots are what made Youngstown once an industrial giant. There is no turning back from the massive onslaught of free enterprise backed by billions of global money to industrialize Youngstown once more.

As to the woman that was thrown out of the council meeting:
Before they spoke, a woman in the crowd was escorted out of the meeting by security when she started yelling at council.
No legislative body tolerates this sort of conduct.
tt, she was not yelling at council when she was escorted out she yelled out that the mayor is bought out by the gas and oil coms. she did lay on the council chambers floor as a form of protest, no big deal.
IRRELIVENT ... The people that attend council meetings are GUESTS and EXPECTED TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER PERIOD.!
Whether you like it or not Council Meetings ARE NOT FREE FOR ALL events where anything goes. You might not agree with a single thing Council is doing, BUT YOU MUST BEHAVE OR BE THROWN OUT!
IF YOU WANT TO PROTEST THEN DO IT OUTSIDE WHERE YOU CAN YELL ALL YOU WANT, NOT IN AN OFFICIAL COUNCIL MEETING.
tt i guess you do not believe iin freedom of speech.
Lets get one thing streight right here and right now ... FREEDOM OF SPEECH HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT ... NOTHING!!!!
You can't create a distrurbance in a court of law ... you can't create a disturbance in church ... you can't create a disturbance in the U.S. House of Representatives or the Senate, you can't create a disturbance in a theater, nor can you create a disturbance at a funeral.
Apparently you approve of total chaos no matter where all in the name of free speech.
Youngstown City Council is no exception
tt it is matter of opinion, no need to have your feathers ruffled. i would like to be a fly on the wall when our ff framed the usa constitution.
 That's my show prep persona coming out ... a bit mild I must admit though ... one of the people that was on my list wanted rough ... mean stuff to fire back at her listeners.
you must had a quite a following during your radio yrs at wkbn.
For the record iwasthere ... I wasn't employed by WKBN ... Dan Ryan subscribed to my show prep service for the simple reason that he was computer illiterate and was impressed by my newsletters ... 13 pages a day 7 days a week plus the material that I fast faxed to him while he was on the air that directly related to the topic he was talking about ... later the newsletters went to Dan Rivers. WKBN links to my website even to this day but I no longer maintain the newsletter due to my health that prevents me from doing all night stints preparing them.
Mr. Ryan and I were personal friends and it was he who encouraged me to set up an all news website, and referred to it daily along with material that I sent him, and because he used it, WKBN management approved of me faxing up to 100 pages a week.
Every Christmas as part of his Christmas program, he featured a Christmas story I wrote that received a lot of good listener comments that was set in Youngstown in the late 1890's.
My day job for 22 years was in the building services department of the Vindicator.
the ole adage is behind every good man is a woman that keeps the coals burning.
My inspiration was my mother who was herself an author and radio personality who had a childrens program back home.
I was on 570 WKBN on Wednesday talking about our upcoming Tod Engine Open House. Rivers was on remote at Akron Childrens Hospital so Tom Leary, Donna Deblasio and I were in the studio, and I was sitting in the "big chair". On a shelf next to the desk was a three ring binder of "Facts", and indeed it was, one page summaries of important issues and events. It was interesting to see just how a radio show is put on. Learned a lot that day.
I guess it doesn't surprise me that iwasthere would find no fault with a protester causing a disturbance in council chambers. iwasthere seems to lack the ability to tell the difference between what is proper and improper behavior.
Urban centers, home to the dependent class have been somewhat orgnanized by the MVOC. What we are witnessing is the last gasp of air from desperate receipients who see that their subsidies are vanishing. Big business is bringing in the workers and taxpayers of America and they will no longer tolerate the lazy.
All able bodied zombies will be mandated to work for a living like the rest of us.

once again rr is making assumptions about an event when he was not there. i was standing next to the yg girl who was led out of the council chambers. the only time she shouted somethng to the ytown cr when she said the ytown mayor was bought and paid by the gas and oil coms. rr next time when you make a statement have all the facts.
Unfortunately the shows weren't archived but I'll post some photos from her scrapbook.
