The Cannon With A Nasty Habit

It faced North-West on the south island on the square, and for all intents-and-purposes looked no different than the other cannons that guarded the Man On The Monument, but for those in the know, this cannon had a mind of its own due in no small part to the fact that its mounting was not as stable as its three other companions, and every time a streetcar rumbled by it would move up and down as if to greet the car.

Those at the First National Bank across the street from the cannon use to joke about the cannon taking aim at them, but no one ever sought to stabilize the cannon, and there it stood until the four companions were removed and melted down.
