Militarizing police forces will result in more botched raids such as the one in Columbia, MO in which two dogs were shot, a child traumatized and a misdemeanor amount of pot was found (of which charges were dropped on).  At any time the very police force that you think are protecting you could be planning to come into your home, shoot your pets and haul you off to jail.  And when its is found that they either went to the wrong house or had the wrong info., they will not even apologize but will say they did the right thing.
