The Bottom Line is Charlie Wilson continues to believe Coal is clean......

He has failed to make millions of new jobs in a greener environment.....

He is allowing his voters to die with the ugly diseases that come with working in the coal mines......

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is truly a day for the history books!

A short time ago, the House passed the historic American Clean Energy and Security Act. In doing so, we took a monumental step to get America running on clean energy, create millions of new jobs, strengthen our security, and reduce pollution in the air.
This legislation was masterfully written by two longtime champions for building a clean energy economy in America and aggressively fighting climate change - Chairman Henry Waxman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Chairman Ed Markey of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.

Most of all, this victory belongs to you. It is directly because of your grassroots support and the leadership of President Obama that progress on climate change is indeed happening in Washington.

Thank you for making this good news possible.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Don't even try to change Dennis's mind with facts, he'll just have to feel the pain like the rest of us, but even then I doubt that he'll admit that he was wrong, and this I simply don't understand given all the problems he already has.

Would he as a teacher give his students a finals test without giving them the opportunity to prepare for it, covering material that he did not teach them throughout the year?

As has been pointed out over and over again the members had no opportunity to read the 300 pages that were added hours before they had to vote on the bill.

We all know that the members rarely sit down and actually read any of the bills they have to vote on, but simply rely on summaries prepared for them, summaries by the way that are prepared by the committees sponsoring the bill, or by their party leadership, and so-called "Talking-Points".

They don't even have the chance to learn how the bill will impact their district.

Totally agree Rick. Never in the History of the USA has there been such a big hurry to pass legislation and not let the people know what it means. As Congressman Boehner tried to point out in his hour long talk, the American people deserve to at least know what the congress is voting on.

Hopefully more intelligent heads will prevail in the Senate.

No one can support a bill that they have not read or understand, except maybe Dennis.

I believe that coal must and will play a major role in our nation's transition
to energy independence. In Ohio, 86 percent of our electricity comes from coal.
And the vast majority of that coal comes from Appalachian Ohio. Because we are located in an area of the country that heavily relies on coal to turn on the lights and heat our homes, Ohio families and her energy intensive industries, like steel, will bear the brunt of the cost from this version of climate change legislation."

Trying to explain something to Dennis the menace is like talking to the wall, but I will try again.

Dennis, you incorrectly assume that Charlie Wilson's opposition to this bill is because he is in the back pockets of big coal.  Did you ever realize that perhaps he is in the back pockets of his constituents instead?  Many of his constituents work in the coal industry.  All of them use coal for their power. He is doing the right thing by going to congress representing the will of his people.  That is what he was elected to do.  You don't understand how the process is supposed to work.  A congressman is elected as the spokesperson of the district he is from.  He goes to Washington carrying their concerns and wishes with him.  This is becoming a rarity anymore as congress is now full of people like Tim Ryan who just does what he damn well pleases and whatever will please Nancy Pelosi. He knows he'll never be voted out, so he is free to do waht it takes to advance his personal ambitions, and will sell us down the river if he has to.

Was there really such a need for the rush to vote on this bill? The speed at which these massive liberty, freedom and money robbing bills are written and voted on is irrefutable proof that the notion of actually representing the people is a mere charade.  Yesterday some reps were not taking a position on this bill until they found out if it had the votes to pass or not.  They wanted to go with their party but also did not want to piss off their constituents who were against the bill.  Amazing that these people are just playing us as fools and we willingly go along with it.

There was nothing in this bill that required such swift action.  Debate and compromise should have been allowed before the vote was taken.  Just look at all the flaws that we're finding in the bailout bill, some of which you've railed against.  So now we get to talk about the unintended consequences of this new legislation, but soon it will be too late to do anything about it.

Charlie Wilson: Dirty Coal Lover, Votes NO on Energy Bill

The House of Representatives has just passed a landmark bill that will propel our nation toward a clean energy future.

But, the really tough work has just begun. The bill will face tough opposition from Dirty Coal and Big Oil in the Senate and we will all need to work just as hard in the coming months to pass a clean energy bill.

And who voted NO and will lead Big Coal's fight? Our very own Congressman from the 6th District, Charlie Wilson, who was very proud to cast a NO vote and told his voters the following on his web page:

"I wanted to let you know that I voted "no" on the bill.

Charlie Wilson proved today he is in the back pockets of the coal lobbyists and has no intentions of supporting clean renewable energies for the future.

Charlie Wilson is not qualified to be re-elected to Congress in 2010!
