Sharpsville Schools considers property tax increase

A Mercer County school district took the first steps tonight towards raising property taxes for the next school year. Sharpsville's superintendent says there is an increase in operating costs and a lot of mandates not funded by the state. The school board passed a preliminary budget tonight with a 4 mill tax increase but this is just a starting point. The board plans to work between now and June to look at areas to make some cuts if necessary and to get the number lower is possible.
