Rare winter tornado causes widespread damage in Trumbull county

The National Weather Service confirms that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Trumbull county Tuesday morning around 10 am. NWS spokesman Gary Garnet said the EF-1 packed winds of up to 97 mph and cut a path about 50 to 75 yards wide for a distance of about 5 miles.   The twister cut a destructive path across Bazetta Township, Mosquito Lake and into Cortland.
