They mention Auburndale as being one of the crossings that will be reconstructed however, I don't believe Auburndale crosses the tracks. It is one street south of the church there and has a tire place on the corner. The road doesn't go over the tracks.

Avondale does, thats probably what they were meaning to say. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's funny how you drive past  an area at least once a day and can't quite remember the details when you need them :)

From Channel 27 WKBN 5/31/05 11pm News:

IT WAS 4- YEARS AGO TODAY THAT THE CENTRAL COLUMBIANA AND PENNSYLVANIA RAILWAY MADE ITS FIRST COMMERCIAL RUN.

THE RAILWAY, WHICH TRANSPORTS MAINLY CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS AND TRASH, WILL BE MAKING SOME CHANGES, IN HOPES OF FURTHERING PUBLIC SAFETY. JENNIFER BRINDISI HAS THE STORY.

FOUR YEARS, AND NEIGHBORS LIVING NEAR THE CENTRAL COLUMBIANA AND PENNSYLVANIA RAILWAY ARE ABOUT TO SEE SOME CHANGES. IT'S ALL IN THE NAME OF PUBLIC SAFETY.

THE PROJECT, FUNDED BY FEDERAL MONIES, IS TWO-FOLD. FIX UP THE CROSSINGS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE.MAKING FOR SMOOTHER INTERSECTIONS. CLOSE THE CROSSINGS IN POOR CONDITION. ONLY ONE PERSON AT THE MEETING QUESTIONED THE PLAN - - WORRIED ABOUT HEAVIER TRAFFIC AT THE RECONSTRUCTED CROSSINGS.

THE FOUR CROSSINGS TO BE CLOSED TO PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC: BROOKLYN, RAVENWOOD, JUDSON, AND PHILADELPHIA AVENUES. PERMANENT GUARDRAILS WILL BE INSTALLED.

FOUR OTHERS WILL BE RECONSTRUCTED. INDIANOLA, AUBURNDALE, AND POWERSDALE AVENUES. MIDLOTHIAN BOULEVARD CROSSING DONE ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IN ADDITION, LIGHTS AND GATES WILL BE ADDED AT POWERSDALE AND LUCIUS AVENUES.

CITY OFFICIALS SAY POLICE AND FIRE WERE GIVEN THE PLAN, AND THE FEEDBACK WAS POSITIVE. NOW, THEY BELIEVE THE PUBLIC WILL BE JUST AS SUPPORTIVE.

ONCE STARTED, THE TOTAL PROJECT SHOULD BE COMPLETE IN ABOUT 15 MONTHS AND COST ABOUT 400-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

WORK COULD BEGIN IN MID-JULY. OFFICIALS ARE WAITING ON CLEARANCE FROM ENVIRONMENTAL AND ODOT OFFICIALS
