About Ron Paul

Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for
freedom in our nation's capital. As a member of the
U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly
works for limited constitutional government, low taxes,
free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies.
He is known among his congressional colleagues and
his constituents for his consistent voting record.
Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed
measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution.
In the words of former Treasury Sec'y William Simon,
Dr. Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535"
on Capitol Hill.

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA
He graduated from Gettysburg College & the Duke
University School of Medicine, before proudly serving
as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the
1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968,
where he began his medical practice in Brazoria Co.
As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has
delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who
reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents
of five children and have 17 grandchildren.

While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and
early 1980s, Dr. Paul's limited-government ideals
were not popular in Washington. In 1976, he was one
of only four Republican congressmen to endorse
Ronald Reagan for president.

During that time, Congressman Paul served on the
House Banking committee, where he was a strong
advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken
critic of the Federal Reserve's inflationary measures.
He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-
family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or
abolish federal taxes, spending and regulation, and
used his House seat to actively promote the return
of government to its proper constitutional levels.
In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat
and returned to his medical practice.

Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent
the 14th congressional district of Texas. He presently
serves on the House Committee on Financial Services
and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He
continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the
size of the federal government and a return to
constitutional principles.

Congressman Paul's consistent voting record
prompted one of his congressional colleagues to say,
"Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal
of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his
principles will never be compromised, and they
never are." Another colleague observed, "There are
few people in public life who, through thick and thin,
rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is
one of those few."

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul's Record:

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional
   pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office
budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of
substantive legislation each year, probably more
than any single member of Congress.

About the Electoral College:  Read the Constitution.  There is no constitutional right for a citizen to vote for President. The legislatures of each State selects electors for that State.  They then cast their votes for President.  It has become tradition for the electors to cast their votes according to the vote of the people in their State. But not every state has laws compelling them to do so.

Thats probably Ron Paul's greatest challenge.  To get people to read and understand and live by the Constitution.

Why is Ron Paul so low in the polls?  Because the polls use land lines when polling, for one.  Why is he so highly rated in Internet polls?  Maybe that is where his base of support is.  But of course it will be dismissed as hacking into the polling computers.  I'm about one more telemarketing call away from ditching my land line and going to cell phones for all my calls.

Some people have become so comfortable with the largess provided by the government, or too ignorant of the original intent of the Federal government, to want to risk changing back to the way things should be.

Allan, why do you want universal health care?  Do you think you'll get better health car if we had that?  Now really, think about it.

Tell me why the cost of health care not under the control of government has gone down and why the rest has gone up in price?  Ever had Lasik eye surgery?  Price keeps dropping and quality gets better.  Now compare that to any other procedure that is covered by managed care. Price rises and quality suffers.  Hmmm, whats different about the two?  Very little govt. involvement with lasik.

But if you get your wish and get universal health care you'll also get your income tax for all, because there will be no way that it can ever be paid for without bankrupting this already bankrupt country.

In all the polls that I've seen and included on my web site, Ron Paul is so far down on the lists that it isn't funny, which leads me to ask, "If there is so much support for him out there as indicated in the amount of money he has generated via the internet, why is he so low on the polls?"

Certainly the media debates have not helped him ... he's been excluded from some of them because of his low poll numbers, but then with so many hats in the ring, none of the candidates have much time to really get their message across beyond sound bites.

Then there are those CNN/YouTube so called debates that are so pathetically biased that they should be ignored.

And speaking of CNN, it's coverage is so biased toward Clinton that it has ceased to be funny. How are we to be an informed electorate when the media will not give equal coverage to all the candidates?

Here are a couple of things that really, really, REALLY need to be changed in
our government:

1) A flat tax (ie: income tax) for ALL people
2) Universal Health Care for ALL people

3) Pass a Constitutional amendment that will ABOLISH the College of Electorates
Why, you might ask?  Because in about 23 of the 50 states, there is NO law on the
books that requires an electoral delegate to vote the SAME WAY as his constituents [sp?]
in his/her district.  This is why Bush won the Presidential race against Gore - Gore got the
popular vote (ie: the vote cast by you, me and the rest of us citizens) but the stupid
Electoral College gave their votes to BUSH.

Until the Electoral College is abolished, I will NOT register or vote in a Presidential election,
because my vote is over-ridden by that of the Electoral College.  In other words, no REAL and
HONEST Democratic representation for us voters.

The President of the United States does not have the power to do 75% of the things Ron Paul is promising. Now he either knows that and is playing for votes, or he doesn't know that which means he isn't as smart as many think. Either way I don't want him running my country.
He may not have the power but he can get the ball rolling on some things ! For one, abolish the infested Federal reserve and revamp the income tax system. And its just not your country bucko. there are some of us that don't like the way its going to hell now. Are you ready to fight in the streets ? You may have to if the almighty dollar goes south . You think Youngstown is bad now ?

Rick, I agree completely ! Ron Paul may be the answer. I haven't felt this good about a candidate in years.

I just spent the past two hours watching various videos on Youtube, and I have come to the conclusion that the only choice for president is Ron Paul.   Here is someone that actually believes in limited government, personal liberties, freedom and all of the other principles that this country was founded upon.  I know some of you won't acknowlege a candidate unless there is a D behind his or her name, but go over to youtube and watch a few of the videos.  He has a very strong message and just gained one more supporter tonight!
