First Night Youngstown is always seeing help from the community.  There are various committees that work to plan the New Year's Eve program.  I'm sure First Night Youngstown would be very happy to have the help of all the local groups.  The FNY phone number is 330-744-9966.

Oktoberfest
When we plant flowers downtown
Trash pickup/litter pickup
Jazz Festival sponsored by the Bean Counter
The various downtown street parties (that were posted but I've never seen any downtown?)
VexFest
Rusty River Art Festival
Pig Irons Poetry Festival
First Night Youngstown
The Oakland Center for Preforming Arts-- they always have events that are in serious need of assistance/volunteers.
Tree Planting events that went on during June
YSU's Summer Arts Festival
Downtown Italian Festival
Northside Farmers Market

Those are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. I believe that all of those things the organizations should lend a hand for. I just think that theres too much competition between groups and we should just all band together, make a small council for it and use our strength in numbers to create something amazing.

I keep thinking about the dismal attendance at the Downtown Oktoberfest.  If the members of each group would have attended, there would have actually been a crowd at the event.

In your last blog entry, you mentioned Youngstown Nation.  Let's make a list of downtown events and projects in which every group would be expected to participate.

Well, during the warmer months we really didn't meet all that much, I stayed in touch with everyone means of this board, and group e-mails that I would send.

I think that during the winter months I'd like to meet once a month. I want to do something informal just where we can all be together and talk about history, different ideas, youngstown topics etc.

Bad idea? What does everyone think

Your post reminded me of this postcard I found recently while cleaning out my parents house.
Its a penny post card showing the Wick building. and a trolley in front I'll attempt to post this in the next few days, maybe someone can tell us the year it was taken.
