Encouraging Home Ownership in Youngstown

"Buying Into Youngstown" is the title of a brochure that helps citizens to purchase homes in the city.  I was handing these out last year and have to acquire another supply.

Here's another idea to encourage home ownership in
Youngstown.

I'm sure most folks have seen the late-night "info-mercial"
for that guy named Carlton Sheets and his "no money down"
real estate seminar that can be ordered by phone.

Now, I'm not advertising for this particular show/product
or promoting it in any way, but it did give me an idea,
similar to my other posting today about financial aid for
the citizens of Youngstown and surrounding areas.

What if someone or some neighborhood group in Youngstown
were to order Carlton Sheets' (or any other similar)
"creative financing" real estate course and then use it
to develop a program to help folks who want to be home
owners in the Youngstown area?

I've never actually seen any of the contents of the
materials that Mr. Sheets is hawking on late night
television, but there is probably a lot of good info
in these real estate courses that could be used to
develop a program that addresses the specific needs and
wants of people in the local area.

Combine the techniques in these "no money down" real
estate seminars with whatever government grant money is
available to help save some of the beautiful older homes
in the city and spur home owership - which, in turn, would
generate some property tax revenues for the city's coffers.

Thoughts, anyone?
