If the Mayor doesn't think that all the troubles on the South Side aren't going to have an impact on the downtown entertainment district he's saddly mistaken. Further, the impact on the Youngstown Playhouse, it's security notwithstanding, could very well force it to relocate outside the city.

Nothing that he and the Police have tried so far has worked, and even if the Sheriff were to put some cars on the streets of the South Side I doubt if it  would have the kind of impact that is needed.

By bringing in the National Guard to bolster the police presence and place a curfew on that side of town will not stop the gangs from running wild, but it will seperate the law abiding citizens from these monsters so that the police can round them up and send them to prison where they belong, hopefully for a very long time.

As for groups like the ACLU that would surely step in and try to stop the city from cleaning out the South Side, I would support taking them to court. The good folks that live on the South Side need all the help they can get, and they won't get it from the ACLU.

More homicides have now occurred after the zero tolerance program than before it.
The problems are in specific neighborhoods, not on the state roadways.

If things are this bad now, just think of how bad things on the South Side will be this Summer. The time has come for Mayor Williams to call on the Governor to send help and admit that his plans have not worked. How many innocent people will have to die before he swallows his pride and admits that outside help is needed?

Clearly the South Side is spinning out of control, and our Police Force is not able to contain it.

Because the State Highway Patrol doesn't have jurisdiction on city streets we need to have the Mayor declare a state of emergency and ask for the National Guard, and slap a complete shut down order on the South Side. No one in - No one out and a 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM curfew for EVERYONE. You get caught outside after the curfew and you go to jail PERIOD.

Most don't remember the 1960's riots but there was a city wide curfew from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM City wide and the National Guard policed the South Side, so don't tell me that it can't be done. I ran a store on Market Street then and it stayed closed until the curfew was lifted.

27 News just reported that a 20 year old male was murdered at the Boston Ave sight. 
They said that he was a member of the South Side Soldiers gang.

WAKE UP MAYOR WILLIAMS AND CHIEF HUGHES.  IT'S TIME TO CALL IN THE BIG GUNS.  You live in this town too, aren't you the least bit sick of this? 

We've been saying for months that mostly all of the murders are gang-related and the police have been saying the same thing.  These gangs have been causing havoc for a number of years.  There was a gang bust several years ago and most of them got light sentences if at all.  Round them up, throw them in prison, and throw away the keys.  They are incapable of being rehabbed.  Ask the Feds to come in and clean up this town like they did when they cleaned up corruption, the mob, or whatever you want to call it.

The decent people of this community want to live without fear.

Also heard that house on W. Philadelphia "got shot up" about 6 min after the Boston incident and another one on Idlewood got hit with gunfire.  YPD called a Signal 1 - homocide at Boston but haven't heard anything on the news yet.

PD now requesting any available units for a crowd on scene getting out of control. How much do you want to bet that between now and Sunday, there will be retaliation shootings and stabbings in that area?
