A Curfew Is Needed

I hate to say it, but our local judges are as worthless as monopoly money. They all need to be voted out of office.

So if the laws/ordinances exist, WHY in the world aren't they being enforced?  WHY doesn't YPD arrest them and WHY don't the judges had out tough sentences?

Look in the Vindi court news section and read how many criminals get probation or reduced sentences.

When I proposed holding parients responsable, I wasn't suggesting new laws, but simply the enforcement of the existing laws. TO THE LETTER WITHOUT EXCEPTION!

If some lilly livered weeping Hanna doesn't like the idea, lets take a look at their parenting ... it may very well leave much to be desired.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ... there are plenty of good decent families on all sides of town that should never have to hide in their homes in fear. Remember the young lady that was shot by a bullet shot from outside?

The sooner these aminals learn that their actions will not be tolerated a single second the bettet off  we'll all be. This is NOT a third world city in Latan America where gangs are allowed to run the town.

Jay,

There is and has been a curfew in the city,as well as other ordinances directed at parental responsibility. We don't need anything new, we need to enforce what is there.

If your on South Av. when Wilson lets out, check the numbers of youth hanging at Ally's every day.

Holding the parents responsible is a great idea, believe me. And those parents tend to know that their offspring are doing wrong.  My neighbors have been nothing but trouble with their kids.  Over the past 8 years-the two youngest-3-5 yrs ole at the time were left alone and "wandered"(more like climbed the fence) into my backyard at least once a month.  The oldest shot off a BB gun off the front porch with his friend aiming for the houses across the street, climbed and balanced himself on my fence to sneak into his bedroom because the parents locked him out. They've made fun of my son(MR and autistic), telling him to pull his pants down, ripped my shrubs to shreds, hit my house with a BB shot, played with a loaded pistol, played basketball in my fenced in backyard(No hoop in my backyard), played football in my front yard(not allowed in thier frontyard) and I can go on.  The parents are always inside-I can hear the TV blaring with wrestling shows, "Judge fill-in-the-blank" shows and the trashy talk shows. They only respond to the police being called-knocking on the door got no response.  They always are ready to pick a fight with any neighbor that doesn't tolerate those kids.  You can hear their arguments easily in my house with the windows closed.  The second oldest was expelled for fighting in Yo. city schools-they sent him to St Matthias and then got expelled again.  He was told by the father that he wasn't allowed to have his buddies over because he got D's and F's on his report card.  Within 30 minutes there were 5 kids playing with him in the back. Those parents will complain that the system is holding them down, when they have no one to blame but themselves.

I don't completely disagree with the idea of holding parents responsible.  But the problem is that in many cases, by the time the "monsters" have gotten this bad, their parents (likely a single mother) have already lost control over their children, and don't know how to get it back.

My mother had lost control over my own brother by the time he had turned 14.  She is a small lady--5'-6", 115 lbs.  What could she do to stop him from leaving, and doing what he wanted at that point?  (If I had still been living at home, you can bet that things would have been different!)

A curfew would be great but ALOT more police would be needed. Also we would need a juvie judge willing to lock these kids up. There are so many "monsters" on the streets because the juvie judge thinks we need to hug these kids. Did anyone know that the juvie center in Youngstown can hold 70 kids, it is currently averaging between 30-40.

Something harsh needs to be done and done quickly, but I doubt if these monsters would respect a curfew. How about holding their parents accountable ... if they were to face going to the slammer for the crimes of their spawn maby they would take their parental responsability more serious. The good folks living on the South Side shouldn't have to put up with the monsters or the people that bred them.

Sorry the language is so strong, but considering the magnitude of the problem something must be done and done quickly and keep getting done until the South Side is rid of all the trouble makers and their families. It's not right that good and decent people should have to live in fear on a daily basis.

No one can tell me that the parents of these monsters don't know what their kids are up to.

A curfew is needed for the youth in the hot spot area of the south side.  Many of our south side businesses are closing as a result of this terrorism.  Pizza shop employees were recently in fear as youths attacked the shop.  A police escort was needed to get the employees safely to their cars at closing time.  Customers will not venture to this  part of the city anymore.
