The department of party planning screwed up.
Naw I got my answer.  The company who was to do the fireworks overbooked themselves and had to cancel with the city.
Phantom Fireworks offered to do it, but could only do it Friday night.
So that's what they had to go with.

We used to make soup can rockets.  Take an old can with one end already
opened, turn it upside down and make a small hole in the bottom, put in
a small firecracker, and set it in pan with a couple inches of water in it.

When the firecracker goes off, the can will jump about 20 or so feet into
the air.  The can will last for many, many launches. It's also pretty safe
since it sits in water and one end of the can is already wide open.

;D

I would like to know WHY the fireworks are going to be on Friday the 3rd rather than Saturday the 4th??

It's just not the same.

My Dad, a fireman back home use to get a can that had a lid on it, and make carbide bombs and explode them. They were just as loud as your M2 firecrackers. So loud that he would only set off one or two at the most. Were they dangerous? They sure gave the cans a major headache.
There was a toy cannon that used carbide, but lackng that, the tin can with a lid worked just as well.

Yeah, I feel you Towntalk....wish they hadn't outlawed them.....somehow,
sparklers and colored smoke bombs just don't get it.

I would like to set off some fireworks in my yard, but my neighbor
is a county sheriff and probably wouldn't be to happy about it.  Besides
that they are illegal where I live.....

smh.....

I still don't like any fireworks being set off in my neighborhood by anybody.

It scares pets, litters the neighborhood, disturbs the elderly in nursing homes, creates air pollution, etc.

do you still believe in Santa? bah humbug

Covelli Center is a good location....lots of empty land, with room  to have the
spectators at a safe distance.

Towntalk

They aren't going to be in your neighborhood ... they're going to be at Covelli Centre or are you anti fireworks any time anywhere by any organization for any reason?

When the city was informed that the company that was scheduled to do the 4th of July Youngstown fireworks that because they used another company for the New Year display that they would not do the 4th display. When Phantom Fireworks heard the news they stepped in and said that they will do the fireworks, and it will be the biggest ever. Thank You Bruce ... you are a real champion!
