Your messages always imply that you are the only one doing anything for Youngstown.
In your message you say that I "just sit back and "TALK".  You could not be more wrong.
You are not the only one that has your life savings invested in the North Side of Youngstown.
I actually live there.  I spend every moment that I am not at my job working on a 100 year
old house.  I do appreciate what you are doing on the North Side of Youngstown, but don't
always make it sound as though you are the only one doing anything.  There are many,
many people who have a lot invested in the North Side and they were there long before y
ou arrived on the scene.

CitizenInYO:

I'm sorry if that's the perception you have of me, based upon my posts on this message
board.  So far, you are the only person who has expressed this opinion- and I have been
posting on this board for months and months.

I think it's absolutely WONDERFUL that you are working on restoring an old, historic home
as well - and I wish you EVERY success in your efforts to do so - in fact, I APPLAUD your
efforts.

I readily recognize, and ACKNOWLEDGE - that YES, others are - and have been -
working to better the North Side.  This is one of the reasons I joined the North
Side Citizen's Coalition - to try and contribute to their efforts.

Yes, I acknowledge that others have been doing their part LONG BEFORE I got started
(last June  in my case, actually).  I applaud ANY person who is trying to do ANYTHING
to help the city of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley in general ,  regardless of WHAT
part of the city/county they reside in.

It was not my intent to try and put myself on some kind of "pedestal", I
thought I was merely makeing some clearly worded statements of what
my intentions are with regard to my old neighborhood.  So If the wording of
my messages rubs you the wrong way,

                   I  APOLOGIZE

Allan

OK,  what did I do wrong.  How do you get back out of the quote box.  My message also appears in the quote box?

type your message outside the quote brackets

Make sure your message is after the trailing

sometimes the tag is a few lines under the quote.

Just a note for the posters that quote each other on the forum -
To quote and have it show that it is a quote

Just a note for the posters that quote each other on the forum -
To quote and have it show that it is a quote

two methods-

1. Click "quote" above a persons message.
The entire message will be in a quote box in a reply and you can take out the parts you don't want
This method will show who you are quoting.
example:

BTW
I didn't think you were being a smarta**.
I admire your dedication and wish you luck.

2. or paste the quoted text in your message, highlight and click the little box that looks like a word bubble.
It will put quote tags aroung the text
    [quote]highlighted text[/quote]
example:

There is absolutely no reason for snyde, personally directed remarks like this on the
message board.  I did not say, nor did I imply, that I am going to "single handedly
save the North Side of Youngstown"

What I AM doing, HOWEVER - is putting MY PERSONAL LIFE SAVINGS where my
mouth is and actually DOING something to help fix up the North Side - where others,
like yourself, just sit back and "TALK".  I work ten and twelve hour days, side by
side with my crew, with my OWN TWO HANDS - trying my best to help fix up
the neighborhood around Wick Park and make it better for every single man,
woman and child living in the area - most of whom I don't even know.

"WHY the North Side?"  you might ask - my answer is simple - because it is the side of town
where I grew up, went to high school, fell in love with my first girlfriend, etc, etc.

I have over a third of a lifetime of great memories - all of them from my days growing
up on the "North Side."  I was NOT trying to be a smart a** in my response to the
Forum Manager - I was simply trying to explain that I honestly DO NOT HAVE
the money to donate to charity at this time.

I was laid off from my I.T. job of 18 years in October of 2004 - and until my new
business starts generating some cash flow, I am living off of my lifetime
savings - and pouring TONS of it into the properties I am buying and restoring.

Where would the collective "YOU" be without the proverbial "ME"  you ask?

Well, "YOU" would be worse off than you are now, with me helping and
risking my life savings in an effort to try and do someting genuine, something
REAL to make a difference in Youngstown.

If you REALLY have a problem with that, then debate me on the issues,
ideas and concepts that I put forth on this board when expressing myself.

Please don't  resort to petty, childish, sarcastic "cheap shots"  the
"Peanut Gallery".  Rather, put forth the behavior of the mature, intelligent
and rational human being that I am certain you actually are.

'Nuff said.....

I should have put a smiley in my post Allan.
I wan't expecting you to fund a Chaney soccer team!

Most of the local businesses that support sports do so in the private sector for leagues..

BTW - Youngstown has open enrollment.
MANY of the students at Chaney come from the North Side.

CitizeninYO

Wow Allan!!  It's nice to know that you are single handedly going to save the North Side of Youngstown.  Where would we be without you???

AllanY2525

Yes, I saw that same story on the news last night - Y.P.D. spokesman said that the police
department would have provided security if only they had been asked to do so.

As far as sponsoring Chaney, I feel it would be more appropriate if the neighborhood
around Chaney sponsored them.  I have my hands full on the North Side working to
better the neighborhood around Wick Park right now - and my fledgeling company
(have not received all the paperwork back from the lawyer(s) to officially launch
the company yet) is not yet generating any revenue (ie: income).

I have joined the North Side Citizens' Coalitioin and made a $200 donation, and am
working on other projects to help the coalition get back on its feet and become a
fully functioning Non-Profit  organization once again.
