It would be better, yes - in theory... in actual practice, it's not likely to happen.  The swastika became
the symbol for one of the most evil empires ever to cast its shadow over humanity -  and until our
great grandchildren's generation is born and dies of old age people will probably still associate this
symbol with the Nazis.

It's a shame that people keep the negative associations tied to certain symbols, words and phrases.

Would it not be better to revert back to the swastikas original purpose/meaning and changing the meaning of certain words and phrases so they could no longer be used in a hateful fashion?

FWIW, I am not suggesting forgetting the past.

According to Wikipedia, the swastika was a symbol of good luck in the early 20th century, until the Nazi's adopted the symbol.
