Clearfield County is a county of small towns and Clearfield, the County Seat is under 10,000 with high unemployment and is a college town. The larger portion of the county is made up of a state park/forest.

The larger population base is made up of senior citizens as younger people move out of the county to find work, and as you know, the tax base in Pennsylvania takes a big chunk out of the family income.

The Ethanol plant is one of its only industries and there are two in the county, one in Clearfield and one in Curvinsville another small town near Clearfield with a population about the same as Clearfield.

I mention these things to give an idea of the area we're talking about.

Tonnage permits have nothing to do with it Shrimp.....

It's the amount of heavy truck traffic that reduces roads at gas fracking sites to rubble......

An endless parade of trucks to and from a site will not help townships cope with roads falling apart

from such heavy truck traffic.....

Dennis, quit misleading people, as in timber operations, there are strict permit and BOND requirements for tonnage on public roads.  However, I like that you are now reduced to bring forth facts and honest debate, keep going.....

An increase in gas fracking will increase the truck traffic on our already crumbling township and county roads,
as well as cause major problems for rural township volunteer fire fighters who will be unable to respond to the
emergencies encountered at drill sites such as fires and chemical spills and leaks.....

These gas fracking wells will become major money drains for local governments.....who are already strapped for cash.
The gas frackin companies are paying landowners for the mineral rights, but not paying townships for road usage and
fire protection.....go figure.
