Thousands of Green Jobs Created in California's Capital Region

A recent article issued by the Solar Home & Business Journal on the publication's website states that a new report from Green Capital Alliance details that numerous efforts to establish Sacramento, the capital of the state of California, as "a clean-energy hub" have collectively resulted in the creation of approximately 13,000 green jobs and many new companies whose activities center around the creation of alternative energy and environmentally friendly pursuits.

Green Capital Alliance reported that during the five years from 2005 to 2010, the amount of businesses that qualify to be described as "clean-energy technology companies" has increased from 29 to almost 100, and during the 13 years from 1995 to 2008, the green jobs growth rate of the California capital region was the highest in the state, further corroborating other recent studies, including one from a prominent UC Merced professor, that pin high hopes on California's Central Valley as a future hub of green activity.

Regarding the report, Joel Ayala, the director of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, cited the efforts of those in the area as a major reason for the increase Sacramento's statewide leadership in green endeavors.

"Various city, community and academic leaders have worked diligently over the years to make the Sacramento region green and this report shows that they are on the right track," he said. "Thanks to the region's leadership and the state's environmental initiatives, Sacramento will solidify its place on the green map while leading California to play an increasingly prominent role in the overall green economy."

United States Representative Doris Matsui also appears in the report as a longtime advocate of the development of green and alternative energy industries, claiming that the over $250 million dollars of federal support the Sacramento area has received has also played a significant part in the region's success, according to the Solar Home & Business Journal.
