The real Youngstown

I can say I know how you feel.  Many times I often asked myself why did I move from Poland Village into Youngstown,  I saw opportunity.  There is opportunity and the City really is a nicely designed city, however, I soon found out that many of the people have a mindset totally foreign to prosperous communities.  It was explained to me once by an old wise Atty., he said that unlike Virginia where I lived after college, in Youngstown we have a bluecollar mentality, very suspicious of business, corporate leaders and politicians.  In Virginia, the mindset is puritan, they encourage business and abhor entitlements, I guess we are just outnumbered in Youngstown.  Just this morning while we were harvesting shrimp, a neighbor walked over and said he called the councilman to have the abandoned buildings around us demod.  I said to him that there is no money and he shot back that the Man has money, he gets his disability check every month.  These people honestly believe that government money will always be there, very sad, they really don't get it.

While folks are worrying about trivialities, Youngstown is living up to its well deserved reputation as one of the most dangerous cities in Ohio. Bert is right to suggest that the time has come for the governor to place Youngstown under martial law and keep it there until this city can show major improvements that can be lasting.
