Poor people also have access to these vouchers!

But lets discuss this obsession with poor people for a moment.  I'm sick and tired of the taxpayers in this country having to sacrifice because of the so called "poor".  You shouldn't be able to send your children to a good school with your own tax money because it may harm the "poor".  You have to pay high taxes because we have to take care of the "poor".   Yet the basic functions of government such as maintaining infrastructure and providing police and fire protection goes without because so much of the taxes go into the bottomless pit of payouts to the poor.

Helping the poor in this way is not compassion, it is slavery.  Through various social programs we as a society have effectively removed the work ethic from the poor, and they have become permanent parasites on society.  Rising above their position in life is punished, since a minimum wage job provides less than what govt. pays out in subsidies, food stamps, SSI, CHIP or whatever else they qualify for.

Getting a higher than minimum wage job is pretty much out of the question because they were let down by the public school system. It is the public school system that has helped perpetuate the parasite class by becoming a 12 year long child warehouse where little learning is done.  Public schools are running scared now because they actually have to perform to keep students enrolled.  Going back to the public school monopoly would just reverse any of the progress made in school performance, and they would again slide back into child warehouses.

Why Not Ohio? Just Say No To Vouchers

The Green Party of Ohio does not believe in a voucher system to support private schools. We believe in funding a good public education system.

While the Republicans and to an extend the Democrats support a voucher system here in Ohio, what we are setting Ohio up for is a system where the wealthy will have good schools-paid for in part by what used to be tax payments to public schools. By continuing this voucher system, the poor will not have money for good schools. We will end up with a two-tier school system-a good one for the deserving rich and a bad one for the undeserving poor.

It's time to end vouchers-time to invest in public schools again like we used to. It's time we had a Green Party Governor to just say no to vouchers!
