I agree, every government building should be as green and specifically energy efficient as possible, I love it too, and I'm a conservative. All I'm saying is it is expensive and we need to be wise about where the money comes from.

How long will it take for the "hundreds of thousands of dollars" to be saved? Maybe once they have saved $300,000, the amount of the federal grant, they can give that money to another city in the form of a grant, so that there are two cities saving money without costing the federal government any more money. It would be a kind of pay it forward type deal, this could be a requirement for all federal grants for solar panels.
