A "Saved" Job is any job that is needed to make the numbers look better.

What is the definition of a "saved" job?  Could not all jobs that did not end within the last year be considered "saved"?

The independent board overseeing Recovery.gov is rejecting calls for a disclaimer on the stimulus-tracking Web site to indicate that some job creation figures are inaccurate.

Officials contend that the site already informs users that job totals are "as reported by recipients" -- and that the board has not been shy about saying that stimulus fund recipients were bound to make mistakes.

"There are no penalties for filing false or inaccurate information" in the Recovery Act, said Ed Pound, spokesman for the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board. "This is something that Congress did not choose to write into the law."

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Committee, asked in a Nov. 13 letter that the board "commit to incorporating some kind of qualifying information such as an asterisk or footnote to accompany the presentation of this information, warning visitors to the Web site that the information is not accurate and auditable."

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has also asked a government Web site to correct statistics indicating stimulus funds have gone to non-existent congressional districts.

Obey: "We designed the Recovery Act to be open and transparent and I expect the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, who oversees the recovery act web site and data to have information that is accurate, reliable and understandable to the American public. Whether the numbers are good news or bad news, I want the honest numbers and I want them now."

Rep. David Obey, D-Wisc, who chairs the House appropriations Committee, issued a paper statement demanding that the recovery.gov Web site be updated.

"The inaccuracies on recovery.gov that have come to light are outrageous and the Administration owes itself, the Congress, and every American a commitment to work night and day to correct the ludicrous mistakes."

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR THE INACCURACIES TO HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
