When are we going to realize that no one wants to put money into the south and east side because the blacks and hispanics wont let this town prosper, most of them anyway. All they do is tear things up.  Trash, don't cut the grass, drugs, babies, welfare.  We also have leaders that won't do anything about this because it's too big of a problem.  No decent folks will move into these areas.  We need help, NOW.

The problem is not the taxing of the residents of this once great city. The problem is the fathers who run the city have difficulty realizing that if you don't make job oppertunities available and create a tax base rather than taxing what few people who want to stay you are then part of the problem. What confounds me is the hardy few who remain in Youngstown don't rise up and force the politicians to represent them and revive the city even if it means sacrifice which it shouldn't if a leader is the least bit creative. The youngstown Arts and Entertainment district is an effort to do just that. If you truly want change you will start to support this idea.

My neighbors moved to the suburbs today.  They had a combined household income of around $90,000.  The primary reason why they moved was the city income tax.

The obstetrics and neonatal departments of North Side Hospital are moving from Youngstown to a new facility in Boardman.  The incomes of the doctors, nurses, and support staff will no longer be subject to the city income tax.  City tax revenues will decrease over time as more and more of our good paying job leave for the suburbs.  One wonders if this move was also taken to avoid servicing the uninsured of the city.
