Members of the Mahoning Valley Greens Party in Youngstown, Ohio marched yesterday with the Southwest Neighbooorhood Association ACTION Group and local clergy to help fight blight in Youngstown, Ohio. The march was to identify troubled areas, increase public awareness, increase public support for the southwest side of Youngstown, and to work toward solutions to tearing down blighted buildings that were turning into drug havens. The march got attendion from city officials who vowed to tear down a condemned former funeral home that was now a crack house within the next six weeks.

The ACTION march on Thursday targeted the former Linton Funeral Home on the north side.  The building has been abandoned for years.

In the photo below, Fr. Joe Rudjak of Saints Peter and Paul Church tells ACTION members about the need to remove this blighted building from the neighborhood.

Councilwoman Gillam promised the building would be demolished in three weeks if no asbestos is found inside.  If asbestos is found, an additional three weeks would be needed for the demolition.
