as long as Iris treats everyone on a fair basis with this insurance requirement, i do not have any problems with any parades or festivals promoted by any groups.

Youngstown was built by immigrants of MANY ethnicities..
they used to have billboards at the mills written in multiple
languages because there were so many different cultures,
and people from all over southern Europe, Latin Americans,
and yes, African Americans from down south as well as those
who were born and raised in Youngstown.

Youngstown has ethnic "ghettos" of all races and ethnicities
not just Black/African American.

As long as the intent of the events and the venu is celebrating
things like ethnic culture and history and not promoting racism
against people of other ethnicities or denegrading their culture,
then why should they not be allowed to have these events? 

Celebrating African and African American history is about more
than celebrating a difference in skin tone - and the city does,
indeed have many events that celebrate the traditions and
history of others, whom we would describe as "white" with
regard to their physical appearance.

Yeah, they will need to get insurance - but it could be an interesting
and entertaining set of events for everyone to experience and enjoy.

No, because they already exist. (Greek Fest, Italian Fest, Oktoberfest, etc.)

The Afrikan Cultural Weekend event is planning a parade on the south side of Youngstown in early August.

I wonder if the group knows that parade insurance is needed?
