Miss Julie takes place in the kitchen of the Count's manor house is Sweden, on a Midsummer Eve in the 1880s and vividly depicts the battle of the sexes and classes that ensues when a wealthy businessman's daughter falls for her father's bitter servant.  Miss Julie is concerned with the torturous relationship between the aristocratic title character and Jean a mere servant of her father's house.
