Future Taxes For Roads

As cars become more fuel-efficient, they will also become lighter - which helps to
reduce the amount of wear and tear on the pavement of the roadways (at least to some
extent).

Tractor-trailer rigs are the worst offenders with regard to the amount of wear and tear
they cause to the road surfaces. I have traveled many a highway where the sheer weight of
these huge trucks has caused the road surface to have "ruts" in it where the tires of the big
rigs tread on it.

Transfer money from paying unconstitutional entitlements to paying for constitutional infrastructure work .

In The Future

Less gasoline will be used as people cut back on driving
Cars will be more fuel efficient
Alternative fuels will come on line
Electric cars will in crease in number

The tax on gasoline has been the source of funds for the transportation infrastructure.   As the collected gasoline tax revenue diminishes, how should we fund our future transportation infrastructure needs?
