Efforts made by the mayor and others to save this store have failed.  The Giant Eagle store's last day was Saturday, July 12.

The city will also lose the income taxes from the 65 employees.

It was announced today that the Cornersburg Giant Eagle grocery store will close in two weeks.   The departure of this store will leave only one other full service grocery store in the fifth ward of the city.
