This really is great news for the city.  I've always said
that YSU is one of the saving graces of Youngstown and
that it will continue to bring revenues into the city.

Someone needs to get photos of Smokey Hollow (what's
left of it) before the construction starts, for
historical preservation purposes.

Maybe I'll do a photo shoot of the Hollow on my next
visit.

What the project involves

1. 500 homes including condos, town houses, single family homes, and loft apartments.

2. 44,000 square feet of retail development.

3.250,000 square feet of commeriial high tech facilities.

4. Green space from Walnut to Harrison streets that can be used for concerts, sporting events, shows and a farmers market.

5. The 22 families that already live in the Hollow will get financial aid to remodel their home. None will loose their homes.

The estimated cost is $250 million.

Judging from the pictures as shown on TV News, this area when completed will rival anything in the suburbs.

THREE CHEERS FOR ALL INVOLVED!

YSU's plans for the Smokey Hollow project are on their way to City Council for zoning approval. From what little was said on the news at 2:00 on WKBN it is going to be huge. Single family homes - condos - and commercial business.

This will without question be a great addition to our city.

Let your Councilman know that this has your full and unconditional support.

Today's Vindicator has a Page 1 rendering of the project.
