Thanks ever so much, they were great. Youngstown has a very long history with show business going back to the late 1800's when the first theater was built in the Excelsior Building that strangely was located on the very site that the Paramount is now, and some of the great actors of the day played there. It was called the Excelsior Hall. That was followed by the Grand Opera House which also brought in world famous actors and actresses. I hope that that mural will be preserved for future generations, because when you did into our history this aspect of life in Youngstown is extremely interesting.

I've compiled a scrapbook of all the downtown theaters and am amazed at the number of them that were there over the years. We just think if the big 6 - the Warner, Paramount, Place, State, Park, and Strand, but at it's peak, there were no fewer than 12 downtown theaters, many of them having stage shows.

Was anyone down to see the murals on the Paramount Theater?

It would be nice if someone with a good camera could take a set of photos of the mural to post here for those of us who can't get out to see them.

Cropped closeups would be wonderful.

Our thanks goes out to the artist that did the mural.
