Fundraising is a DRAG! - June 8 and 9

It's that time of year again!  The Oakland Center for the
Arts will host its annual event, Fundraising is a DRAG!, on Friday,
June 8, and Saturday, June 9, at 8:00 PM.  This offbeat, scandalous
variety show, featuring drag queens, drag kings, comedy, live singing,
spoken word, and lip sync will be hosted by the infamous diva, Starrlet
O'Hara.  The fabulous all star cast includes Maxine Factor, Ahrin
Starr, Buffy Meledres Starr, Shawna St. Lawrance, and The Vice Girls:
Anita Martini, Anita Joint, and the third Anita whose last name is far
too scandalous for print! The production is directed by Robert Dennick
Joki, whose recent work at the Oakland includes BatBoy: The Musical,
The Book of Liz, and How The Drag Queen Stole Christmas.
          A wine and cheese reception and Chinese auction will take
place prior to the show at 7:00 PM.  The auction will feature items
from various local businesses, as well as hand made crafts and jewelry,
drag related items, and stage costumes, including the Mr. Peanut
costume from The Book of Liz and the peacock costume from Batboy: The
Musical.  Stick around after the show and meet the cast!  Take pictures
with female impersonators and ask them all the things you have been
dying to know!
