You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT 100%. There is everything our beloved seniors need there plus plenty of free parking. (I'm a senior citizen myself so I can speak with no little authority). Add to this public transportation, and you have a real winner, and I'm sure the businesses in the plaza would welcome them as potential customers.

The empty grocery store in the Mahoning Plaza might be a feasible location.

The Sam Camens Center has been sold.  The senior citizens who used the center will no longer have a place to play bingo, have dinners at reasonable prices, or to meet with friends.

Councilwoman Carol Righetti stated that she is looking for another facility to house senior citizen activities.   It is too bad that the city is determined to demolish the Salvation Army building on Mahoning Avenue.   The Salvation Army building could have been converted into a multipurpose activity center for use by the entire community.

The Sam Camens Center, 1080 Salt Springs Road, will go on the auction block on April 25.  The former steel workers hall had been a senior citizen gathering place in recent years.  Many area seniors have expressed displeasure with the owner's decision to liquidate the property.  West side Councilwoman Carol Righetti is making a last minute attempt to stop the sale of the building.
