The zoning board needs to consider the possibility of allowing some areas
in the city that have large areas of vacant land the ability to be zoned
as "agricultural", with landholders having a process they can follow to
apply for this designation.

I completely understand the rights of citizens who do not want the
noises of crowing chickens, etc waking them up or the smell of
manure - BUT - there is plenty of land in some areas of town where
areas could be set aside for farming, etc.

There are both monetary and health benefits to raising your own
livestock and produce, also.  With the prices of food these days I
can't blame anyone who wants to "grow their own" food.

Urban farming the torch of the MVOC and YNDC, was a big failure,  notice how it is grass cutting that is being targeted as a cash cow for their survival now.

Urban farming can bring jobs to the ytown residents, who are unemployed for unforeseen or foreseen circumstances. City officials are on the wrong side of this issue.

The City Planning Commission had five people apply to keep chickens this year.

City Council and the media really do a terrible of informing Youngstown residents of legislation in the pipeline.

We have to make our city government more transparent.
