NOTE At this point (1928) the school is called the WEST SIDE SCHOOL, not Downtown School or any other name that would suggest that it was anywhere other than the WEST SIDE. Today the WEST SIDE SCHOOL is known as the CALVIN CENTER. Just TWO BLOCKS away from the HUB HOTEL.

As absolute proof of what I say, what was the name of the elementry school that was at the corner of West Ave. and Mahoning Avenue? I'll give you a clue, the building is still there and has been repurposed at least twice since it closed as a school.

OK Jay so it isn't the West Side as defined by you here in 2015 BUT this hotel ad is from 1902 and in 1902 this hotel was considered on the West Side, so please no nitpicking.
